PAT recap from Glenn

The amount of Port Authority Transit service in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County slated for reduction, effective June 17, has been reduced to 15 percent of the current system service [from the originally proposed 25 percent reduction in service]. Other recommendations of the PAT staff, to be formally approved by the PAT Board on Friday:

* July 1 - ACCESS Paratransit Service base fares rise by 50 cents (NOT $1 increase originally proposed)

* Sept. 2 - Scheduled date for implementation of second set of transit service reductions (Phase II: 10 percent reduction, in addition to 15 percent reduction in June), if approved by PAT Board in June.

* Jan. 1, 2008 - Scheduled date for implementation of transit fare increases, if approved by PAT Board (currently no recommendation on a fare increase scheme)
