Thursday's meetings with bike interests

Bicyclists should be present at both.

Dan Onorato will brief the public on his 6-point transportation plan July 13, 7PM / 6:30 reception @ the Union Project, 801 N. Negley. Make sure his plan includes bicycle transportation.

A meeting on Thursday, July 13, 2006, in the DEP office at 500 Waterfront Drive in the community of Washington's Landing, just off of Route 28, 7:00 pm, hosted by PennDOT, to discuss impacts of State Route 28 / East Ohio Street on the Trail and nearby communities, residents, and businesses of Washington's Landing and North Shore of Pittsburgh. It is important to state the necessity of keeping enough space for the Northside Trail as well as widening the multi-use sidewalk along East Ohio Street (from 40th street to the park) and providing a safe transition from this multi-use sidewalk into and out of the town of Millvale. Currently the plan for the sidewalk is limited to only 5 feet which is not enough room for 2 bicyclists to pass each other safely or for wheelchair users and pedestrians or bicyclists to share. The plan currently does not include a safe transition into and out of Millvale.
